Movie Makers #001
Two types.
PROOFS are the small-scale films, funded $25,000 to $500,000, they are also the means by which we determine the large productions approval.
The reason they are called proofs, is that they prove what an aspiring film-maker is capable of with real budgets, and real constraints in time and people.
Once a proof demonstrates a film-makers abilities, a well prepared and thought out project gets funded..this is a MINT...as in minted for general distribution.
MInts will start above $500,000 and may receive up to $15,000,000.
We aim for an average cost within $250,000 for proofs, and $5,000,000 for mints, meaning 32 mints and 160 proofs that we are budgeted for 2010.
These budgets do not include the marketing costs.
We offer up the finished product to investors, who get first viewing rights, along with test audiences.
Marketing budgets are determined by the support of these marketing investors, which will take 10-50% of the profits.
SSF will receive the sum of the film costs back, and half of what profits remain, after marketing...the rest goes to the group or individual that is contracted to make the film.
In addition to conventional marketing strategies, that are applied using these moneys...which is decided jointly between SSF and the group/individual, we distribute the films, net-based, FREE for proofs and 1 dollar for Mints.
Also, selling DVD's or in other desireable media formats, (IF) there are at least 2000 media orders for proofs, or 10,000 for mints.
As with the netcasts, media profits are 50/50.
Merchandising is also possible, and is also 50/50.
