The Seattle Summer Festival is a civic project which invites people of all stripes, to come together in the spirit of an intentional community, through the use of festival activities.
We want communities that reflect a deeper yearning than mere commercialism can manufacture, but which existing social systems have not adequetely addressed.
The starting point of being involved in the very idea of this community, is to find the some cause that animates ones passion.
Facilitating the exploration of peoples passions, and the development of relationships, and the organizations that further them, is the essence of our means.
We will develop relationships from common interests of the few into interests that involve the whole of our community, from the neighborhood block to the international flock.
We are more than the sum of many people looking for an outlet of forgetable experiences and indulgences.
It is our intention to motivate the masses to find within themselves the stuff that makes neighborliness a pleasure and not a burden or chore.
To vanquish the sense of disconnection and powerlessness that dulls the hopes and aspirations of the many who do not have their voice heard or their ideas taken seriously.
We want people to feel, and to be, a part of this community, to promote new community connections, build on existing not-for-profit organizations efforts, and develop new civic/not-for-profit/business partnership models with broad appeal and widespread engagement of people.
We seek to involve people in the enjoyment of the festivities, by introducing would-be spectators to the option of being creators of their own activities and join in developing the activities we offer to all.....to become active partners in the festivals creation from beginning to end, perpetually.
